Dir En Grey (écrit DIR EN GREY) (ディル・アン・グレイ）est un groupe de metal progressif japonais. La formation est réputée pour son éclectisme aussi bien sur le plan musical, dans leur collision de mélodies et de métal, que visuel. À l'origine nommé La:Sadie's, le groupe change de nom avec le départ du bassiste Kisaki (fondateur du label Undercode Productions). C'est donc avec l'arrivée du bassiste Toshiya en 1997 que naît Dir en grey, le line up n'ayant pas changé depuis.En 1999, Dir en grey va devenir un groupe major avec l'arrivée aux manettes de leur nouveau producteur Yoshiki (batteur de X Japan), ce qui constituera un tremplin pour le futur du groupe. Le groupe compte comme ses principales influences des formations telles que Deftones, Tool, Smashing Pumpkins, Bauhaus, Nine Inch Nails...
