Christopher Anton Rea, est un auteur-compositeur guitariste anglais. Son plus grand succès date de 1989 avec l'album The Road to Hell. Dans cette banlieue, « Aller chez Rea's »"(prononcer « Rias ») signifiait aller manger une glace. Chris Rea succède à David Coverdale (futur Deep Purple et Whitesnake) dans le groupe Magdalene, et gagne un concours national de jeunes talents en 1975.Les titres "On the beach" (1986), "Josephine" (1987) cartonnent en France. La compilation New Light Through Old Windows, datant de 1988 regroupe ses plus grands titres d'alors. Son album suivant l'amène au sommet de sa carrière : The Road to Hell obtient un succès énorme jusqu'à devenir n°1 dans les hits anglais. Cette popularité européenne ne traverse toutefois pas l'Atlantique où ses chansons ne se classent pas parmi les hits américains. L'album suivant, Auberge, rencontre lui aussi un grand succès européen. Après un grave cancer (et seulement 50% de chance de survie après une opération), Chris Rea se promet de revenir aux racines du blues, si sa santé le lui permet après son opération.
